Hello,
I have been using the Opera Browser with Linux for quite a while now
(I think I started with version 7.23). I love it! I am having a bit
of a problem however.
I use version 9.23 on a RedHat 8.0 system, and it works fine. Now,
since I wanted to make sure everything converted over onto a new
machine I'm setting up with openSUSE 10.3, I downloaded and installed
Opera version 9.23. I copied over my bookmarks and settings, but
there is one lingering problem that perplexes me.
On the RedHat machine, transfers in the Transfers window stay there
for a long time. I can begin a download, stop it, shut down the
machine, come back later, log back on and resume the download. On the
new SUSE machine, transfers seem to disappear from the Transfer window
as soon as I end the browser session. This a problem, as I frequently
have to interrupt big downloads, and I can't leave the computer
running unattended.
Is this a setting I need to change somewhere, or is something else
wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Opera stores the transfer history in ~/.opera/download.dat
The only thing I can think of, is that when you transferred the files,
the numeric uid is different, and as the file is only writable by the
owner, the write is failing.
Check "ls -l ~/.opera/download.dat", to ensure the ownership is set
to your loginid.
You should probably upgrade to 9.26, as well.

I figured out what was happening. Http downloads were being saved,
but ftp downloads were not. So, basically, I can do large downloads
and interrupt them anytime as long as they are from http sites. If
I'm doing a large ftp download, however, I need to make sure I finish
the download in one browser session.

I just checked my transfer history (using 9.50, build 1875), and I have
one ftp url there, so that's another thing that seems to be fixed with
the new alpha.
