Focus is still not working

When you open in a new background window (not using Tabs) you lose the
focus of the present window - still in 9.26.

How exactly do you lose focus? I tried the "windows instead of tabs"

setting in both 9.26 and the latest 9.50 weekly and got the same result in
both when I Command+Shift-Clicked on a link to let it load in a background
window. I didn't lose focus. Is this connected to sites with plug-ins or
do you do it in any other way?

I guess most users use Tabs.

To clarify the original statement: When I open in a background window
(by the keyboard shortcut only - when done by a right click of the mouse
focus is retained), then use Page Down or Page Up it doesn't work until
I click on a blank area of that page to bring focus to that page. Then
all works fine. However I can scroll up and down with my mouse wheel.
It appears only Page Up and Down are non-functional. So perhaps its not
really losing focus which would imply the entire page is non-functional.
Just the Page Up/Down. But since that is the next logical action when
web browsing, its kind of important!

Are you on a Mac or PC? I'm using OS X 10.4.11.

It seems to be 100% consistent on all websites.

I'll probably go back to Tabs then as they may never fix this.

Regarding Tabs:
It sure will be nice when they fix the bug that causes some new tabs to
be windows and others to be tabs. By using the 1 and 2 shortcuts you
can't go to the windows. Only the tabs. When you look on the Menu Bar
to Windows, a lot of the windows are duplicates. Its just a mess.

Regarding Windows:
Is it possible to make a keyboard shortcut that would replicate the 1
and 2 keyboard shortcut used in Tabs that advances the user to the next
tab? I looked in Advanced, etc but couldn't see where I could do this.
Perhaps I need to make up a new shortcut? If you could suggest the

I'm on a MacIntel with OS X 10.5.2 and I can confirm the PageUp/PageDown
issue in 9.50 build 4669. Thank you for the clarification on what failed.
That's a bug, indeed.

The pages that open in extra windows are pop-ups and I don't think Opera
can do much about that. On Mac non-maximized tabs inside a window are not
allowed. Would be nice if pop-ups could be more connected to their
originating tab by e.g. making them available in the tab switcher chain
with 1/2.

Btw, the latest Mac 9.50 weekly from <http://my.opera.com/desktopteam>
includes several tab handling improvements in order to make it possible to
mimic how Safari and Firefox behave. And the 9.50 builds can show page
thumbnails in the tab switcher available via Option-Tab, this also offers
a nice way to switch tabs (note: you have to enable those thumbnails in
<opera:config#UserPrefs|UseThumbnailsinWindowCycle>).

The default shortcuts for that are the Mac OS X-wide Command-` /
Command-Shift-` as shown on
<http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75459>. Opera doesn't use

a self-defined shortcut it seems but just sticks to what the platform
defines.

I just tried browsing in Tabs and its fine. So because they are gearing
towards Tabbed browsing they probably missed this. So now all they have
to do is fix the multiple windows/tabs mess in Tabs and all will be well.

Sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately most people are so lame when
browsing and Tabbed browsing is a real novelty for them. There just
isn't a demand for highly efficient web browsing yet. It might take a
few years before people wake up.

Showing a preview is so Leopard of you........good idea.

Can I change that shortcut? I want it to be a single key (like how 1
and 2 work in Tabbed browsing.) Its very efficient.

Opera is getting so good....too bad so many people are so blind they
