spam filter not working

spam filter not working
Sun, 06 Apr 2008 18:29:54 -070
I set a rule to spam all messages whose newsgroup header contains
googlegroups.
9.27 does not catch any of those.
Usenet is being flooded with spam from googlegroups.

THe messages I manually declare/click as SPAM are supposed to be marked
read, which they do by changing color, but they do not disappear from the
view (of sci.electronics.repair) - unlike other messages i mark as READ,
which DO disappear from the view as set forth in the view/show menu.
This is galling - the spam really sticks around!
I'll try ANY header instead of newsgroup header , see if it makes a diff.
Any additional guidance appreciated.
Fritz

Sounds as though that news view is set to display spam. On the news window
header, use the view menu -> show -> spam (uncheck)

A few versions back, all that was right out in the open as buttons on a
toolbar, so you could see what was included (read, filtered, spam, list
messages - and change it with a single click.
