Received mail in store does not show in "received" - how to access it?

I have asked this before, but do not remember whether I received a reply.  
It does not happen often, but can be a big problem when it does.

Check that you allow all messages to show in Received in:
- view button on the mail toolbar > "Show >"
- context menu of the Mail panel > "Show messages from >"
