The first thing that comes to mind is that you should simply reverse the
order: Put it into the desired view *first*. Depending on the view
settings (mark as filtered) that may also automatically remove it from the
unread view. If it doesn't you can then mark it as read.
When creating a filter to automatically assign new mails to a view, you of
course have the option to mark as read immediately (which may not make
much sense to you as you haven't read it) - I haven't used it yet, but it
seems attractive for the folders for one or two newsletters which I never
read but which might be useful someday.
