Move from "Outbox" to "Sent" after send failure
Wed, 12 Mar 2008 17:28:30 -050
A short while ago, I tried to both post and mail a message.

As occurs about once per day, on average, at exactly such a moment,
Opera (now 9.26/8835 on Win32), immediately after "Send" was clicked,
shot up to 100% system usage for a while,
then Windows' "sorry, Opera crashed" message appeared.

When I restarted Opera, I found out, again as usual,
that my post had managed to get posted,
although the email copy had not managed to get sent
(I know the former because it's now on various NNTP servers,
and the latter because it was addressed to myself, but I never received it).

The message is now found in "Outbox," apparently because emailing
crashed,
but it is not found in "Sent," even though posting succeeded
(first question: why is it not then in _both_ views?)

Since emailing had crashed, and since I do not want to post again,
because posting had in fact already succeeded, all that I want to do now
is to move that message from "Outbox" to "Sent."

Second question: How can I do that? (or, why can't I?)

The good news is, that I haven't seen this happening lately while using
Kestrel builds. The bad news is that there is no easy solution. I've never
found the message important enough to go through the moves, but it should
be possible to move a message to a new filter, then export the content of
this filter to an mbox file (rightclick the filter in the mail panel >
Export), then import the mbox while making sure it goes into the 'Sent'
view (use the 'To Sent' field in the import dialog).
