It would be nice. Even manually editing the site preferences INI file and
adding a value for the 'Scale' property for a site has no effect. I can
only assume it's an 'architecture' problem. If so I can't see this being
added for 9.5.

I even remember suggesting zoom being controlable by Javascript (using
opera.zoom(80) or opera.zoom=80) back in the days of Opera 3 as a
primitive aid to allow websites help pages display better on the handhelds

Opera, please add zoom scaling attribute to Bookmarks in Opera 9.5

Hello Opera,

often websites use very tiny fonts. In this case Operas amazing zoom
function helps a lot. But it would be very nice if i could set the
zoom scaling inside the Bookmark properties (or page properties)
for each Bookmark/Page!
This would make the use of the amazing zomm function a real joy!

Over the last years other User also want this feature, some examples
from opera.wishlist:

and so on....

But setting the mimimal font size to an apropiate value helps a lot :)

Extras-Einstellungen-Erweitert-Schriften: "Kleinste Schriftgröße..."
15px
did help here :)

I'm just testing Firefox 3 (beta). And, surprise, Firefox 3 saves the user
selected zoom scaling factor automatically. Works like a charm.

Hoping Opera is able to add a similar feature to V.9.5.

Opera would be more likely to add zoom to site-specific preferences (no
bookmarking required!)
