My wish list

My wish list
Fri, 04 Jan 2008 20:10:14 -050
I have a few things I'd love to see.

1. I know this has been discussed in the past, but I'd love to be able to
enable HTML mail. I sometimes get good things in the mail. I can see the
pics. But when I forward the mail to a friend, the pics disappear. I
know folks don't like html as a format, but sometimes you just want to do
it.

2. I would also like to see a minor change in the way filters are done.
Most people coming to Opera are coming from an environment where folders
are the way they permanently store their e-mails. I understand the filter
metaphor. What is not clear to the new user is that, if you apply a
filter to an email, and then you empty the recycle bin, the mail is gone!
Yes, you can set an option to "Mark message as filtered," but this
doesn't
come close to explaining to the user that, unless you check this box, the
mail is gone. Worse, there's no way to make this the default setting, as
far as I can see. In the interest of clarity, the "Rules" page in
Filters
should be more clear, and users should be able to set a default value here.

That's it for now...<grin>

No need to wish for this; it's in the works.

Don't hold your breath ;-)
There's still no sign of it in the Kestrel (version 9.5) betas so it may
take a while before it's ready. But it has been vaguely confirmed by an
Opera representative one year ago, so sooner or later we are going to see
it.
