outlook express freezing up

outlook express freezing up

whenever I try to send/recieve emails, outlook express freezes up.  But, if I 
connect first (on a 56k dialup) and try to use oe, I have no issues.  Help

Have you told OE that is should dial the desired connection if needed at 
Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Connection?

yeah, tried that, it still freezes.  I also tried removing and recreating 
the connection, and removing and recreating the mail account in oe, 
reinstalling TCPIP, disabling my virusscan, and doing a sys restore, and it 
still freezes.  It also doesnt matter what profile, or user I'm logged in as. 
 But, if I connect first outside oe through the dialer, it works fine.  If I 
try to connect through oe, the program freezes.  

I realize that as long as it still works one way, I should be happy, I just
