Google MIDP for Palm OS and get links for download and documentation.

I remember a formal page on the Sun site when I was developing it 2 years ago,
but can't find it now.

Most questions I got by email were in regards to conduit development
specifically in Java, which unfortunately isn't supported in the newer CDK.

I had a specific situation where I needed to support their older devices, so I
decided not to directly support IBM WEME product that comes preinstalled on some
newer Palm devices, for sake of simplifying matters.

Not sure what the latest and greatest is now. I didn't want to write C/C++
code, buy expensive licenses for SmartForms (which their last application for
Palm was written in), nor go the route of a constantly tweaked SuperWaba.

I think the dropping of support were corporate decisions to drop something
that wasn't wildly popular and considered dated by replacement products.

The unsupported vaporware seems to be working well for the client for now and
into the foreseeable future until they can no longer find Palm devices that work
with the application or they decide they want an OTA enterprise application,
which would likely mean more Java, JDBC, JSP, and some recycled/adapted Java. I
gave them full ownership rights to the source as well.

I'm biased though as a Java programmer who will work for peanuts if it means I
don't have to touch device driver code (C/C++) except perhaps through Java
Native Interface. Writing C/C++ to me is like having to write in an assembly
language. Abstracted UIs can save you time from having to write pretty UIs for
specific devices.

Hmm, I am under the impression that "Midp4Palm" is no longer
available!
Sun removed it from their products list some time ago.

  Am I wrong on this?
If you're using it, how are you distributing it?
Is it still available from Sun somewhere?
