It sounds to me as if you need to narrow down the code to find where
it is failing.  Put in a series of alerts to fire as the program runs.
"Calling foo(3,"Hello")
"In foo()"
"Exiting foo()"
"Foo returned 14"

If you see the first 2 but not the 3rd then you know it failed inside
foo( ) so you can go into foo( ) and add more until you find the dog
that doesn't bark which means the problem was just before that.
