I'm running Elements v5 on windows XP.
My photos are taken on a Canon 400D with a 1.5:1 (widescreen) format.
However, the Elements slide show always seems to convert this to a 1.3:1 picture
format.

I have the same problem and would like to see if anyone has an answer.
Is PsEv6 any better at handling widescreen?

My understanding is that Photoshop Elements can not do a widescreen slide show
in either PSE 5 or PSE 6.

With PSE4.0 and XP Media Center 2005, I can choose to Output to "Widescreen
Hi Def" TV (to the My Videos folder) a HD WMV 720p Widescreen slide show
that is composed of hi-def stills (roughly 2250x1500 pixels each) that have been
saved, after editing, in PSD format.
If I wish also to incorporate some video clips into my slide shows, I first
convert the clips to to HD WMV 720p, which I do with Premiere 3.0, as WMV is the
only clip format PSE4.0 will accept. I've done this conversion with both M2T
clips from my camcorder and HD Motion MOV clips that I've downloaded from the
muvipix web site.
Whether I use XP Media Center or Windows Media Viewer for playback, these HD WMV
720p slide shows with movie clips play back perfectly in widescreen on my
widescreen (1920x1200) monitor, and I imagine they would also play well on any
widescreen TV.
