PSE5 can't import pictures anymore.

I had to reinstall Vista HP x64 and SP1. I install Photoshop Essentials 5.0 and
get the new update and all seems fine, now when I plug in my camera to import my
photos it just hangs there searching for devices. I have to use task manager to
exit the screen. It takes me back to PSE5 and everything else seems fine.

also, whenever I turn on my computer it now tries to load pictures automatically
and I have to go into task manager and end task again.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

I have version 5.0.2 actually. I went ahead and reinstalled Vista and installed
PSE5 first, then SP1 and all seemed well. I then put in my camera after I
updated my whole system and it locks up completely again.

I disabled the updater in msconfig so it doesn't start up with vista, but I
can't use it to import any pictures into my system, even if manually from within
PSE5.

Please help

OK, I reinstalled Vista x64 again and this time I installed Photoshop Elements
5.0.2 before updating Vista x64 to SP1 and it still locks up the photo
downloader. I have to use task manager to end the process for it to abort.

anyone know of a fix?

anyone know an alternative way top get my pictures into PSE5?
