Line tool problem

Hello,

I'm using elements 5.0.2 on vista home premium.

When I use the line tool, it makes a double line of varying density, rather than
a clean solid line of the correct width. In other words - when I draw a 1px
line, the result is a 1px line of the correct color, and a 1px line directly
next to it of a lighter shade. When I use the selection tool to try to select
and delete the lighter line, only the entire 2px wide area is selectable. It
sees the entire area as one undifferentiated field.

Any suggestions?

I reset the tool and it behaves the same way.
