Here's what worked for me: I uninstalled Printhouse Magic. I next did a
search on my hard drive and deleted any Corel leftovers. I then went (with
much fear) to run--> regedit, which edits the registry hive. I searched for
Borland, Corel, and BDE - deleting any that were left. Be very, very
careful - because if you screw up the registry, you could really screw up
your entire system. Also, be careful with deleting the BDE finds - there are
some key strings which happen to contain BDE, but I do not think they have
anything to do with the Borland Database Engine. Then I restarted system.
Next using Windows Add/Remove program to add a program (from CD), select
setup.exe and reinstalled Printhouse Magic. That did not get it done all the
way, so I reopened the registry with regedit and searched for Borland. I
carefully examined the registry entries I found. One, configfile01 had an
entry (double click on it to see/change) which pointed to ATAPI.dll I
changed that to ATAPI32.dll I no longer have that "error in database
path"
popup when I try to launch Family and Friends. It seems back to normal, or
at least as normal as a Windows based machine can be. I don't know if all
these steps are needed (and suspect they're not). But that's what's worked
for me.
And to Corel Customer (Un)support .... well nevermind.
