Macro command

Macro command
Wed, 9 Jan 2008 21:36:58 -0600
I created a macro in a cell with {Deletemenu "/Tools"} When I play
this
macro, I should see the Tools portion of the menu bar disappear. It does
not. Nothing happens. I have used the "Deletemenu" macro in previous

versions of Quattro successfully. Please help.

Roy,

Thanks for responding.

Unfortunately, the macro is listed in the macro command help
file of X3. If that functionality disappeared around V10, why is it still
included in the current version help file? I am responsible for setting up
custom spreadsheets for some 60 restaurants and have taken the plunge from
my existing version (5.0) to X3. We sent Corel over $10,000 for this
license. If this is the kind of grief I am going to have and haven't really
even started, I'll be calling them back for a refund and picking up Excel. I
have literally hundreds of macros to convert. In the long run I'll end up
saving time if I can't rely on the X3 help menu for accurate information.

Deletemenu is just a simple one (or so I thought) which allows me to keep
inexperienced computer operators from getting into trouble. During that
conversion process, how will I know that a macro will not work correctly if
the existing help file in X3 contains macro commands that are apparently not
functional? Click Help>Macro Commands>List of Quattro Pro Commands and you

will find listed without any reference to UI nor any indication
that it is not functional.

I realize that you are a volunteer and am not bashing you in this text.

Just airing frustration. Let me know if your help file differs from mine
with regard to the Deletemenu macro command.

Thanks,

Dave

That functionality disappeared around, I think, v10. The only method
currently available is to set up two Workspaces and choose one or the other.

When looking up the macro commands, please note that some begin with UI.

Roy,

If your statement is true, that is an incredible admission of incompetance
on the part of the developers of this product. If funds are not available
to update the help file which is the sole source of in depth documentation
of the commands, then the product should not have been released or should be
taken off the market. (Are you familiar with any other written resource
listing all the commands that are functional?) I have an manual for a 1989
Ford Mustang GT, but need to work on a Chevy? There is an extremely limited
source of information pertaining to in depth use of Quattro X3. The few
books out there tell you to refer to the help file within Quattro for use of
macro commands because the list is too exhaustive for a discussion in the
book. Maybe that list would not be as exhaustive if only the commands that
worked were listed. I am now in a quandary because as I work on converting
all my macros, and building new ones, I have no idea looking at the help
file if the command I am using is functional or not. Deletemenu is only one
item in a very large list of commands I will be using. Any suggestions
other then getting a refund and going back to VB? I'll bet you that in less
than a week, if it were my sole priority to run thru every macro command in
the help file to determine if it were functional or not, I could get it
done. Lets see, at $65/hr *50 hours = $3,250. If Corel can't afford the
$3,250 to update the help file, their problems are much larger than
imaginable. I write this in the hope that someone at Corel reads it and
puts their head where it needs to be rather than where it is.

Thanks,

Dave

Beta testers could report these problems to help Corel. That is no
guarantee that they will be fixed though.

Other problems occur with for currency, , @Sheets,
@LastBlankSheet.

is marked as obsolete in the help. Since it is related to
 that might be a clue.

I will add to Appendix A of my qp macros book.

The UI methods though would seem to be the best route for control anyway.
