spreadsheets with more than 256 columns

spreadsheets with more than 256 columns

I have a spreadsheet with around 850 columns, every time I open the
spreadsheet or change some of the data in it, I have to repartition the
spreadsheet for it to work past column 256. All the equations and such are
all in place, but I have to repartition every time. any ideas? As you may
tell by my language I am not all that computer savvy so please bear with me.

Try Tools > Settings

Under Workspace > Application > Compatibility

What is in columns box for Notebook Sizes? I think you set your number
of columns here.

Correct this where you set the size of the spreadsheet, but for whatever
reason it will not save this number of columns, or everytime you change the
data it reverts back to 256 columns

This setting is sticky for me. Until someone who knows jumps in, you
could try creating a new spreadsheet with the desired number of columns
and pasting your existing data in there and see if that works.

obtw, Are you at the latest service pack level? 13.0.0.565 for QPro.

This setting stays with the existing sheets, even if you change it in
QP. You will need to copy and paste your data into a new sheet that was
created with the new larger setting.

I suggest that you select a size that is reasonably more than you
actually need. There is potential for problems if you "go for broke"
and
maximize your sheet limits.

Also, use the *.QBW (v9,10 . . .) file type. XLS and WB3 have built-in
size limitations that correspond to the limits of earlier spread sheet
designs.
