Your workspace is probably corrupted. Start qp and press the left
shift. If timed right, a dialog will ask if you want to replace the
workspace. If not, close qp and retry.

I've noticed several references in this group to "timing right" the
press of the left shift. This is not necessary. Just hold the left shift
down while you start QP. No dexterity requirements! :-)

There may be multiple ways to do a task. I usually advise as best I
know. While that method is what Corel also recommends in the link
below, it is not what I advise. The reasons are twofold. (1) The user
may select other programs on the desktop and the wrong application may
open. Some applications take some time to load before you can cancel
them. To see this happen, move the qpw.exe icon around your desktop and
practice the method that Chris and Corel details. (2) The user must
doubleclick the qp icon to start it. While this is a minor point, some
users have single click setups and may be confused when qp will not
launch by (left-shift)+doubleclick.
So, both methods may work or may not. Most times, Chris and Corel's
method will work fine.

For some time since installing WP Office X3 I have been unable to use
QP13 and have had to use QP10 instead, not without its own problems.
I have uninstalled QP13 and reinstalled it several times - through the
WPO installer - and I have even tried eliminating every trace of QP13 in
the registry before reinstalling, but always get a Quattro Pro Loader
error message, the same one every time:
Error signature
AppName: qpw.exe
AppVer: 13.0.0.565
ModName: mfc42.dll
ModVer: 6.2.4131.0
Offset: 000030a7
Google shows that the module mfc42.dll is necessary for many Windows
functions, and also that problems arise that can be 'repaired' by
various downloads, which I don't trust, having been stung by a trojan on
a similar occasion.
A search in my C: drive shows that I have quite a variety of mfc42.dll
in different places, also mfc42u.dll. They are of different dates and
versions, and the newest seems to be '6.02.400' which I take to be a
variant spelling of 6.2.400, in other words older versions than the one
quoted in the error signature (perhaps that's the wrong interpretation).
Should I try to repair mfc42.dll or download a new copy? And if I find
one, where should I put it?
Does this information enable anyone to tell me what to do in order to be
able to use QP13 again? I say 'again' because for some while after
installing WPO X3 I used QP13 happily, noting some of its improvements
over QP10.

Further to my piece about the dll named mfc42.dll, I wrote that I
thought 6.02.400 was an older version than 6.2.4131.0 . In looking
further through the error report, I see that 6.02.400 is the ProdVer and
6.2.4131.0 is the FileVer. Maybe that will help someone help me?
