While I do understand setting the default folder for when I load QP,
usually set to \MyDocuments. But once I start using files from a
specific folder for a session, QP doesn't remember that folder to
open other files and each time I go for another file, the 'Open
File' window is back to the default, \MyDocuments. WordPerfect does
a good job at remembering where I am at while I stay in a WP
session. Obviously, when I exit WP it will go back to the default
folder. Is there a setting that I can tweak to make QP remember
folders for a session? I can't find any!

Since QP and WP are in the same Suite, the method to do it is the same.
Maybe you forgot how you did it in wp.
In both Applications, enable Enhanced File Dialogs in the Settings for
Files.
To set it in the enhanced file open dialog: File > Open > Edit > Change
Default Folder > Close.

True, - But in WP I don't have to change the default each time I
start using a new folder. It just assumes I will be working in this
current folder until I load a file from another folder, then it
accepts it for a current default. This works great me. When I exit
WP and restart it, WP then goes to the original default, in my case

Sorry, I misinterpreted "Change Default Folder' to mean a permanent
change. I guess I don't remember having to change WP.
Thank you both for your patience. - Keith

Yes. And QP behaves in exactly the same way, following Kenneth's
initial steps:
File|Open|Edit| see that Change_Default_Folder is checked
