Having trouble figuring out which file is treated by QPro 11 as my default
template. In my default folder for storing QPro data files, I find Notebook
1.qpw, Notebook 2.qpw, and Notebook 4.qpw (no recollection of how they all
got there). I assume that these are all templates, but when I open QPro,
does it automatically go to the one with the highest number or the lowest
number? If I want to change the default template, should I change one of
these or create a new one with yet a different number? Thanks.

When you Closed QP, it asked whether you wished to save these file,
and you chose [Yes] - the wiser option, though here it seems
to have given you files you do not require.

N/A

Format|Define Styles| - accept Normal.
Make the changes you wish for.
Check [x]Apply as default...
[OK]
You may wish first to make backup copies of the config files that QP does
actually use.
For most versions of QP, I find the config files at a location similar to:
C:\Docs and Setts\<user>\App Data\Corel\QuattroPro10\_default
I am surprised to find the equivalent v11 files at:
drive:\Program Files\WordPerfect Office 11\Config\quattropro11\corel quattro pro
7
This may result from some choice I made during installation.

Thanks for your response. What I am really trying to fix is to prevent each
new file I open from having me named as author under File -- Properties. I
have tried to fix the three Notebook files I mentioned earlier, and simply
blanking out the author line and then re-saving the files does not seem to
accomplish anything. Defining styles as you suggested does not appear to
incorporate anything about file properties. There ought to be a way to do
this, as I somehow got it done in WordPerfect. Any other thoughts would be
appreciated.

Roy,
I have 11.0.0.321, which is the latest update for the OEM version, and any
change I make and save in those three files does not come through on the
next startup of QPro, or when cycling through various workbook numbers.
There seems to be another default template someplace that I cannot find but
that is launching on startup. Thank you very much for your help. I suppose
this shall have to remain as another Corel mystery.

Roy,
I did see that earlier reference to config file and could not find such a
file then, using your clues as to location. Today I went back and did a
more thorough exploration and finally found something at c:\docs and
settings\[user]\applic data\corel\wp office 11\user workspace\qpro
11\_default\quattro pro. This is a 1 Kb file of today's date (I have
continued today to try means of fooling QPro into getting rid of my name in
file properties). The file opens up in Notepad and lists a number of
settings, but none relates to user name or file properties.
I really like your suggestion of creating a fictitious user. Might as well
have some fun!
