Printing to PDF

Printing to PDF
Mon, 9 Jul 2007 05:36:22 -0400
I seem to recall in the past that I could print to PDF from QP12, via PDF995
software. But I cannot do so properly now. The right side of the page is cut
off, and I recall that this was a common problem.

I've tried printing via Adobe Acrobat, but the problem is the same.

Does anyone have a workaround for printing to PDF, that will not cut off the
right side?

Apparently the problem of cutting things off only appears in landscape
format. But, most of the time, that's the format I use in QP12.

So, if one configured for a page width of 8.5", that might work - but would

be a PITA.

An elegant workaround/solution to PDF cut off problem

I pondered the problem with printing to PDF from QP12 - I don't like to be
stonewalled by things like this. The problem is that when working with
landscape pages, a portion of the right hand side gets cut off. And, most of
my QP12 documents are in landscape format.

I decided that I would try to use PDF995 (my PDF printer), but set the page
size to landscape legal (8.5x14), even though my document was landscape
letter size (8.5x11).

The complete document printed to PDF very nicely, with no cutoff area. Then
I opened the document in Adboe Acrobat, and trimmed 3" off the page, which

now set it to letter size, and saved the edited page size document. Voila -
problem resolved, with just a little extra work

I then printed it out to my color laser, using letter size paper, to confirm
that all was well, and indeed it was.

European users, can try this with their corresponding sizes, and it should
work as well.

I don't have PDF995, and rarely use PDF anyway, but for this exercise - I
tried importing a QP12 page into WP12, set the page to letter landscape, and
printed to PDF. The result was correct - no truncation of the right side.

Hi Karl,

I tried that, and it was a mess. It didn't import into WP12 correctly to
begin with. The formatting was all screwed up. So I never tried to then
print to PDF in WP12 - no sense in doing it. QP has always been a
"stepchild" for Corel.

PDF995 is freeware, at least it was when I originally downloaded it. :-)
And, it works very well.
