| Exporting Comma-, Tab-delimited files |

I think this is a dumb question, but can't find a single thing in Help
about exporting files. Some tangential stuff, but not much.
I need to end up with a WP 12 .dat file. Is it better to import into WP
or export from QP?
Thanks.

Roy,
Thanks for replying.
If you mean by a "simple table," no formulae, I'm afraid my table
doesn't qualify.

If your data are in a simple Table, WP can use the QP file as a
data source. No need to convert.

WP can merge data from a QP file even if the data exists there as formulas. If
your spreadsheet is large and complex, it is advisable to export the QP data you
intend to use in the merge, both for purposes of expediting the merge and
avoiding confusion in setting up and maintaining both the WP form file and the
data link.
QP's procedure to export data is called "data extraction":
Tools|DataTools|Extract to File. It includes the option to specify a cell range
of data to extract and to convert any formulas to values in the target file.
Cheers,
Uli

I find this on the Help page
Associating merge files
by clicking on the link "data source"
<<<
Data source
A data source supplies information to a form document during a
merge. You can use a WordPerfect data file or The address book
as a data source. You can also use keyboard input, an ODBC data
source, a database file from another application, a spreadsheet
file, an ASCII Delimited Text file, or a data file in another
word processing format.
