| Quattro 12 - File Open Does Not Remember Default Folder - Revisted |
 |
Sat, 19 Jan 2008 15:11:11 -040 |
OK, The problem is still there after trying all of the suggestions
posted here.
Here is the problem again;
When I open Quattro and select File then Open, the folder is the help
folder in Quattro.
The default folder is set to be in My Documents\Quattro Data\
Now if I change *anything* in the file options dialog under tools,
settings, and try the file, open again, it will point to the proper
folder as is set in the options.
It is like Quattro does not remember the folder settings unless I modify
something in the File options dialog. The change can be anything, like
toggling enhanced on/off or toggling full path on/off.
I remember the old Quattros had issues with the Enhanced File Option,
but I have tried turning that off too, but the folder does not stick.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I use Quattro 12 under XP Pro with 1GB ram and lots of hard drive space.
Thanks,

That sounds as if the change you make is not registered, either in the
Registry or some configuration file. This is often a matter of
rights/permissions.
I find the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Corel\WordPerfect Office
12\User Workspace\QuattroPro12\_default\QuattroPro.INI
and in that file I find the section
[FileOptions]
and in that section the line
m_csFolder=F:\wpqp
- and F:\wpqp is my default document folder.
You can edit the .ini file with any text editor.

Yup it is set correctly in that ini file. The setting is there in the
file dialog options too, Quattro just will not use it for some reason.

I just noticed that the default sheet that Quattro creates on startup is
located in that help folder. I tried saving that sheet to my Quattro
folder, and setting it to autoload from there, but the folder is still
wrong when I use file, open.

The only references I find to this problem date from 2006.
Please check this thread; though it is inconclusive, one user at least found a
solution:

Though this does not seem likely to be relevant now, I include below the sig
some
thoughts from Chris_D, which were relevant then.

=====
Because of the timing (sudden onset) of this strange new problem, it is
worth considering that there is an outside force involved. Last Tuesday
Microsoft release a security patch that has caused all kinds of problems
for many users. Among the reports are strange file location issues.
Please read the bulletin and note that they have added a terse statement
at the bottom indicating that there will be a re-release of this patch.
Other sources say this will happen next Tuesday.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS06-015.mspx
Google KB908531 and/or MS06-015 and you will find much discussion. There
are posts that suggest the temp fix is just to remove this patch using
Add/Remove programs, while others say it is more complex and requires
some Registry hacking. My suggestion is to wait and see what happens
when the updated patch is released.
