QP9 will not open

Roy, Thank you for your suggestion.  Unfortunately I cannot find any such 
files in Windows XP.  Further, when I try to open QP, I get the Send Error 
Report to Microsoft window, it says the error report will include a file 
whose name ends in accompat.txt and there is no such file on my computer.  I 
tried reinstalling QP only and the Wizard briefly showed a message that it 
could not find the file setup.log.  In case a shared file is causing the 
trouble, I reinstalled the whole WordPerfect Office 2000; thus time the 
wizard hung for 15 minutes at the end of the process (the Task Manager 
showed it was using 99% of resources most of the time but dropping to 47 % 
sometimes -- it was not in a loop).

Searching for program files, I find the other Office 2000 files where I 
would expect them to be and they are dated today.  There is no quattro pro 
exe file with them.

I am willing at this time to upgrade to the latest version of Office, though 
I was quite satisfied with 2000.  I am worried, though that the same problem 
would exist if there is something in the operating system causing this. 
However, it is pretty obviously QP-only, though I'm puzzled as to why the 
reinstallation does not solve the problem.
