| QP will not open |
 |

I don't know exactly the version since I cannot open the app to see the
About option. Yesm the exe file is there, though it does not show up using
search on qp*.exe -- I can find it by going through the Program Files
folder.
However, that does not change the fact that I cannot open QP, no matter how
many times I re-install the program. All the other WP Office files are
there and they work, but not Quattro. I guess I will have to upgrade,
unless you have another suggestion. I've tried the Left Shift trick and
everything ekse I can find in the Knoledge Base, but nothing seems to work.

Tony:
For the future: please reply to a message rather than starting over.
In the <Header/Message/Subject> pane (usually upper R) select the message
to
reply to, and find an icon or menu item named <Reply to Group> (or
similar).
Then a newsreader can keep together ("thread") all related messages.

Get the data from WP. It will be the same, or very close.

I do not know what Search app you use, not what settings you have made in it.
This may apply, or not:
In Windows Explorer, find under View or Tools (varies with OS):
Folder Options|View -
UNcheck [ ] each Hide... option
and, while you are there,
check (x) Show hidden files...
Choose [Like current folder]|[OK]
In XP Search you should also:
Start|Search|All files and folders|
[More advanced options]
check [x]Search system folders,
[x]Search hidden files and folders and [x]Search sub-folders.

Has QP ever opened?
Assuming this is possible under your OS: create a new user - see if that
succeeds. It may be necessary to have the installation CD in the drive.

Roy, your idea about another user worked and I can now open QP and edit
files. All is not perfect however, as I'm getting error messages about QP
being unable to close or save configuration files (Statusbar and
OP_EN_bars.cfg.)
This I think confirms that something in my installation is fouled up - a
template or what? Is there a way to to recover my own user files. How
about the registry -- would a sysem restor possibly help. I want to do
this if I can because the additional user sign-on seems to slow my P3-800
down.
Thnaks for what you have accomplished for me.

My version is 528, not 883. I'm using
Windows XP.

That suggests a permissions issue.
Do you have 9.0.0.883?
What OS?
I doubt I can pinpoint the solution. Usually QP9 creates the config folder
and files in the <current user> tree, so that permission is automatic.

That can only be an illusion, unless you have made some strange settings for
the new user.. Running as one user rather than another is quite parallel; and
a new user will have less accumulated data to manage.
However: you can replicate the improvement in the old user account if you
will delete the config folder and remove from the Registry all references to
QP9. If the only Corel apps you have are WPO9 this is a reasonably
straightforward plan; if you have many then you need to be more delicate.
Look also for a Corel folder under C:\Windows\.
