| Quattro Pro 8 on Windows XP |

Hello everyone,
A customer of mine is using Quattro Pro 8 on a new Windows XP workstation
and his data files are held on a new Windows 2003 Small Business Server.
He has major speed problems with this as when he tries to bring up the
properties on a wb3 file it hangs for a few seconds and hammers the hell out
of the network for about 3-5 seconds. The same problem occurs when opening
wb3 files as well.
These Quattro delays cause major problems with their accounts software
database which is also held on the server. Their accounts database has been
temporarily re-located to a workstation whilst they have this problem.
It is ONLY Quattro files that cause this delay issue, whether opening or
bringing up the properties on the file. The are no delays on any other file
type. A large MS Word document, for example, opens immediately.
The company previously had Windows 98 clients and Windows NT 4.5 Small
Busisness Server and they had no problems at all on their old system.
I know the obvious answer is to put in a newer version of Quattro, but the
customer at least 2000 spreadsheets going back many years, plus many of them
have very complex macros that don't convert over to Quattro 12 without
various problems.
Would be grateful for any input on this matter.
