QP9 sp4
While I have the pulpit, I just recalled another QP9 item I have been meaning
to ask the experts about.
Why will my QP not show negative numbers in ()? Only with a minus sign.
In Tools; Settings; International I have "Parens" selected under
"Negative Values". It doesn't work. Right click on the title bar
and
select "application properties" gets me to the same
"settings" display.
If I enter "(5)" QP recognizes it as a negative and displays
"-5".

The General and Fixed numeric formats display as negative numbers, whereas
Currency and Comma formats display with parentheses, given the international
setting.

Ahhhh Soooooo. Thanks Uli, I never realized that the little window that
opens for "number" & "curency" controlled this. Now I
see it.
So the settings dialog In Tools; Settings; International doesn't do
anything. But what is "Comma format"? I don't see that.

Looks like your "h" and "o" keys are a little sticky, but I
think I'm able to
hear an "Ach so!" :-)

Actually, it does. If you change the international currency setting for
negative values from "Parens" to "Signed", the currency
format will display your
negative amounts as -$x.xx (Set the numeric format to currency, then fiddle
with the international currency setting to observe the effect.)

That's one of the numeric formats in v8 -- apparently, that doesn't exist
anymore in v9. The comma format inserts a thousands separator where needed.
Perhaps in v9 that format was incorporated as an option into the Fixed format,
similar to how it's done in Excel.
Cheers,
Uli

OK

That is the case. There is a check box for "use 1000 seperator".
Thanks.
