| SLES 10 s390x install using LVM fails |

I tried to install SLES10 on a z990 running zVM 5.1. The system had three
DASD; 391 for /boot, 392 for swap, root, var and tmp, and 393 for /home and
/opt.
I activated and formatted all three devices, created /boot, and then used
the LVM dialog to allocate /dev/dasdb to vg_system and /dev/dasdc to
vg_local. I allocated the various filesystems in the two volume groups.
I selected the software to be installed, and then started the install,
which immediately failed trying to build the first volume group. I tried
this several times to be sure it wasn't something I was doing.
I then started an install, and after activating the DASD, I went back to
the ssh terminal, and executed "fdasd -a /dev/dasdb" and "fdasd
-a
/dev/dasdc". On the dialog, I clicked on "Re-read partition
tables", and
then built the LVM volume groups using /dev/dasdb1 and /dev/dasdc1. This
allowed the install to proceed as expected.
Shouldn't the LVM setup execute the fdasd? Why would you require this
manual step during an otherwise GUI-driven install. This is a step back to
SLES 8, where we had to do the dasdfmt and fdasd by hand during the

Due to viruses, trojans, etc... Our e-mail system will not send or receive
large files. The tar is 6m, and "won't fit through the pipe".
Is there somewhere I could upload the file to, or would you be willing to
