Driver for Adaptec 39320A

Altus 3400 (Opteron 870) x86_64
Suse Linux Enterprise 9 SP2 + updates
Kernel 2.6.5-7.257
HostRAID is not enabled, 39320A connected to RAID inc, Orion 12p


Is anyone aware of a driver for the Adaptec 39320A SCSI HBA that
actually works?  I've tried the one that comes with my distro (SLES 9
SP2) and the one on the adaptec site that states it is "minimaly
tested".  Neither work.   The 2.0.15 version (http://tinyurl.com/mdfnx)
comes the closest to working, it will sometimes allow the system to
boot and will actually show my logical drive at its full size (5 TB)
but it also very unstable, causing endless crashes or problems when
booting.

If anyone has been able to get this driver to compile and work
correctly I would be greatly appreciative of any assistance you could
offer.
