Novell Cluster Services on SLES 10

Novell Cluster Services on SLES 10
Thu, 06 Jul 2006 15:49:34 GMT
Hi
I donwloaded and installed SLES 10 (pre-release) because I want to build
and test a cluster server for mail and web (Apache). I cound not find out
how to install NCS because the installation instructions (which are
supposed to be for SLES 9) do not work. I cannot see NCS on the
"software"
installation list. Also, after usual installation, if I type
yast2 ncs
on the console it returns "No such client module ncs".
Questions: is NCS included in this SLES 10 release? If so, how do I
install it?

Which instructions did you use? Also, I believe NCS only comes with OES,
not SLES9/10, and I am a bit dubious over whether it is supported on
SLES9, but my internet connection is all wonky today so I'm having
trouble accessing Novell to confirm this.

Hi, Justin
I used the instructions in
http://www.novell.com/documentation/oes/pdfdoc/cluster_admin/cluster_admin.
pdf
Yes, it's for OES although I don't see OES as a different product. The
fact is that section 3.5.2 (Installing NCS during the OES Installation) of
this doc says:
"1) Start the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 installation and continue
until you get to the Installation Settings screen, then click Software.

OES is part or fhe SLES9 install.

[...]
3) On the Selection window, click Novell Cluster Services and any other
OES components that you want to install [...]"
I am trying to install NCS (OES) with SLES 10 (not 9).

Otherway around, SLES 9 is part of the OES install. OES is SLES 9 +
additional services, including NCS.
