| SLES 10 and windows domain membership and BDC |

Hi
I have just downloaded the SLES 10 evaluation. I would like to replace an
existing NT 4.0 BDC with new hardware running SLES 10. I have configured a
test network with only two IP nodes: one NT 4.0 PDC with DHCP server, and
one SLES 10, trying to join the windows domain and become BDC.
I have reached the point in the initial installation where I can choose to
become a windows domain member. The next screen allows me to browse for
windows domains, but the SLES 10 can't find any ? The domain name is
DDK_TEST. Maybe the "_" character is not supported ? If not, is there
a
workaround for this ? This character is a part of the real domain name in
wich the SLES 10 hopefully may join some day when everything has been
approved in the test environment.
I have also heared that Samba do not support BDC function when the PDC is
NT 4. Is this true ?
regards

Not possilbe. You can only be a member, samba doesn't support the NT4
replication protocols. You can only make your samba a replacement PDC if
you so choose.

Haven't seen this problem. Are you sure your WINS services are running
and available?

Correct. Here's a post thats somewhat on subject with what you're trying
to do: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-March/082077.html
