installing SLES9 SP2 on PPC errors
Thu, 13 Jul 2006 13:14:46 GMT
I am getting some very boring complaints from the autoyast install.

I am booting from a CD (SP2/CD1); then loading virteth driver; using DHCP
to get address; install using NFS; assign nfs server and mount point
(pino:/export/sles9-ppc-sp2)

The directory of the NFS server looks like:

total 20
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   28 Aug 26  2005 boot ->
SUSE-SLES-Version-9/CD1/boot
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   31 Aug 26  2005 content ->
SUSE-SLES-Version-9/CD1/content
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   35 Aug 26  2005 control.xml ->
SUSE-SLES-Version-9/CD1/control.xml
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   51 Aug 26  2005 driverupdate ->
SUSE-SLES-9-Service-Pack-Version-2/CD1/driverupdate
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Aug 25  2005 isos
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   44 Aug 26  2005 linux ->
SUSE-SLES-9-Service-Pack-Version-2/CD1/linux
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   31 Aug 26  2005 media.1 ->
SUSE-SLES-Version-9/CD1/media.1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root   42 Aug 26  2005 ppc ->
SUSE-SLES-9-Service-Pack-Version-2/CD1/ppc
drwxr-xr-x  7 root root 4096 Aug 26  2005 SUSE-CORE-Version-9
drwxr-xr-x  5 root root 4096 Aug 26  2005 SUSE-SLES-9-Service-Pack-Version-2
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root 4096 Jul 13 13:49 SUSE-SLES-Version-9
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Aug 26  2005 yast

And the error message I get is:

Insert

I have looked a bit further. The media.1/media file contains:
[root@pino sles9-ppc-sp2]# cat media.1/media
SuSE Linux AG
20040702200443
1
MEDIA1 SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 CD1

What I think it is looking for, or is using is the media information from
it's boot device (the CD made from the iso image) as it contains (from the
NFS area now).

[root@pino sles9-ppc-sp2]# cat SUSE*2/CD1/media.1/media
SUSE LINUX Products GmbH
20050629105724
3
[root@pino sles9-ppc-sp2]#

Suggestions welcome. If I get them within 24 hours, and get it working,
I'll even be able to demo SUSE on Monday. Otherwise I will be limited to a
different version....
