Excuse me. Replace "paranoid" with "security conscious." You
are free
to disable whatever you want, but don't complain when you are denied
some web services because of it. Very few will be as accommodating as
I was to recode their web pages to suit your fancy.

I recollect a few years ago and it might have been in GRC (or here) I
asked why your site http://lists.thedatalist.com/, in view of how the
point of the groups was to be *securing* our computers, used
Javascript in light of its security risks and that the site could be
setting an example of how a webpage could be created without the use
of JS. I recollect the JS was used for the search function.
Sometime thereafter, the lists of lists site (since renamed to above)
no longer used JS! And I have pointed this out to you before.
You want to call people 'paranoid' who do not have JS enabled by
default? I'd call them security-minded. You want to aruge with these
people who advise "Restrict or limit the use of active code such as
Javascript...": http://www.sans.org/top20/ .
Go argue with the people who advise using "NoScript" as a matter of
course for online security.
Attackers improve on JavaScript trickery:

You may have just used my post as an opportunity to have a go at me,
but what you may inadvertently do is being giving out poor advice to a
person new to computers who figures you might know better because they
see a website you've published (oh, he must be clever and know his
stuff) and the high-profile presence that you have at GRC in
particular.
Whatever, dummy. You may well know your computer inside/out and use
VMs or even have a throw-away computer that you use which has no
security whatsoever, so you are not in fear of having all your data
stolen or having to resinstall your OS and losing all your data.
Most people are not as savvy as you and it is very poor form to come
in here and tell people that they are 'paranoid' because they do not

'rant'?! Comments. Questions. No rant.

That's better. It takes on a whole different meaning now, doesn't it?
When you use term "paranoid", you imply that we are crazy to be
concerned about what is happening when we exchange information with
another computer. What should we do instead, just turn on all the
scripting and let them do what they please?

Only an incompetent or dodgy person would deny someone access.

It's not "my fancy". It's the right thing to do. Why have scripting
on a page when there's no point to it, unless one is an incompetent
web designer or a dodgy one.
And seeing we were in forums that were to do about *securing* our
computers and being told turning scripting off was the best bet and
then a prolific poster like you with a website that has
javascripting?! What else could you do but recode the pages? Or else
look like an incompetent or dodgy?
You should have thought of it yourself. Doh. :)
