Crystal Reports and mssql2005

Crystal Reports and mssql2005

I am looking for some help for Crystal Reports.

I just upgraded a customer’s sql from 2000 to 2005. I created a new odbc
using the Native client for their reports. One of the reports shows, in
addition to a database table, several tables followed by (Command) ex:
monthly(Command). When I try to run the report I am getting an error that
states ‘Failed to open a rowset.’ followed by
‘Details: HY000: [Microsoft} {SQL Native Client] Connection is busy with
results for another command’

Can anybody tell me what this means and how to fix it? Several other reports
that have only the tables from the companies database work fine.
They are using Crystal Reports 10.

Hello.

Did you change servers during the upgrade?

Without knowning more about your situation (like does this happen on other
workstations? How did you upgrade your SQL, onto the same server or another,
etc) I would recommend trying the following things.

1) rerun one of the native SL reports to establish the correct ODBC driver.
I usually run the Chart of Accounts because it's simple and fast. I would
also clean up all your old ODBC entries, but do this with caution.

2) next open your report in Crystal and check the location of your table
etc. This might be affecting the report and getting it confused. If you run
the report within the 32-bit client, it shouldn't matter, but I've seen where
sometimes it does.

I upgraded the same instance on the same server.
The report does not print on any machine. Other reports are fine. We just
made sure that they used the odbc for sql native client.
The think that I don't understand are the several tables followed by
(Command). I am not sure what they are and my thought is that they are the
cause of the error. Other reports that use only listed database tablrs worked
after setting the new ODBC and running Verify Database.

When connecting to a SQL 2005 database in Crystal, it behaves a little
differently in that it lists out the stored procedures first... then
the tables and views. So I am wondering if maybe what you are seeing
is the list of stored procedures (which may also explain the
"command"
notation).

To get around this, when do are doing the "create new connection" in
crystal, before you expand on the database in crystal, right click on
it and select Options. Then uncheck the "stored procedures"
checkbox. Then click OK and it should only list out the tables and
views. KB 928346 goes into this a little more detailed.
