sourcesafe 2005 corruption + analyze hangs

Hi,

I have a problem with a sourcesafe database that seems corrupted (visual 
studio has started hanging when accessing certain files). I tried running 
analyze but it hangs, always on the same file in the second pass. The file in 
question file is the first 'large' one at about 208K.

I checked the KB and the following seems to be the solution - Analyze hangs 
on large files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932874. 

The KB says that I need to contact support to get the fix, but following the 
link it appears that Microsoft want £200 ($400 USD) for this.

This seems really poor. VSS is generally pretty unreliable in my experience 
- I have lived with this over the years, upgrading from time to time, 
generally when I've hit particularly bad problems. This time though it really 
has become unusable and I'm really not willing to hand over my credit card...

Does anyone have suggestions?
