| "Sticky mouse" problem |

I don't know what I did to cause this, but often when I single left click on
a file or icon my mouse "grabs" the object assuming I want to move it
(I
DON'T!). And right clicking on almost all default Windows programs via the
start/programs bar does not give me the "properties" pop up anymore
(that
hasn't worked since I reinstalled Vista). Also, I have to click the pointer
with a few pixels of the "real" link point to have action take place.
Say
for instance an "Ok" bar is one inch wide on my screen, I have to
click
within a 1/8" wide point to get it to work. Usually all you need is for the
cursor to be withing the dialog box button area for it to work.
I've installed Uniblue's System Tweaker and SpeedupmyPC3, plus TweakVI for
Vista. I reinstalled the mouse drivers and set everything in there to
default, but no joy. I then went back to the original as-installed settings
on System Tweaker (there's some mouse functions in there) but still nothing.
The right click no properties problem is the most bothersome on, I like to
put a few apps from the control panel on my desktop but without being able
to "find the target" I can't do it.
Any suggestions? It's an HP I775 Multimedia PC, brand new, running
up-to-date Vista.

Two quick ideas...
- can you try your pc with another mouse?
- Not sure about Vista, but in XP, in the Control Panel, the Mouse
applet has all sorts of options, including settings on tweaking the time
to recognize a click. This may vary from mouse driver to mouse driver,
but I think the basic settings are in there.

Doubt that. You using the Logitech software? It raised hell with w2000
Pro so I dumped it. Problems sort of went away, although now and again,
usually when in Thunderbird, the mouse will get a little wonky but
eventually recovers. I've chalked that up to w2000 driver, known to be

Btw, did you look in the control panel mouse settings? There is a check

Yes, I did. I brought out the original cordless mouse that came with the PC
and tried the right click/properties move, but no joy. However, the left
click was no longer "sticky" and I didn't have to hit buttons and
links
right on the bulls-eye either. I turned over my Logitech mouse to see if
perhaps there was something to clean (akin to the mouse rollers on a regular
mouse) and saw a "reset" button. I hit it twice, and voila, no more
sticky
mouse! Weird, because I had re-installed the software. Must be some kind of
memory onboard the mouse itself.

I look there, I still want to solve the right click/properties problem, it
really irks me. No luck finding the solution on Google yet either.
