'hidden' drive

'hidden' drive
Mon, 31 Mar 2008 13:35:54 -070
I have a USB external HDD.

It does not appear in the my computer window -

BUT is does appear with the proper drive letter in the registry, in computer
management>disk management, in an explorer window when I click on a desktop
icon.

What gives - how can I get it to appear in the 'my computer' window?

Run "tweakui" (start/run/tweakui), select "my
computer/drives". Make
sure there is a check next to the drive letter.

That worked - why the tweakui involvement?

BTW - the OEM said that he thought that the OS was corrupted and should be
reinstalled.

Thanks for the help.

Must have been one of those 'parrots' that tries to imitate product support.
They know nothing about the product or technology, but can 'parrot' a canned
script very well...

I agree - sometimes it is hard to get to the next level to get a real
answer. (Maybe also the don't want to mention Tweakui??)
