What is it exactly that you do?,
Or is that the point of these posts with un snapshots without context from
your life. Is this a Usenet game of Clue?
Anyway my guess is that you and the ice were drifting, the anchors, and
buoys weren't.

It wasn't me! It was "Bar0" <nobody@spamcop.net>!

Software. At least, that's what I thought my job was. I'm now project
lead on my second big hardware project. Now in the general sense. Right
now I'm trying to fix my software.

Well, maybe!

Our big problem was that we basically had 2 anchors. One was a traditional
anchor and the other was the 400 pound chunk of ridiculously cutting-edge
technology (it was designed a month ago!) on the bottom of the St John
River. Well... The St John River being tidal and all (on the Bay of
Fundy) you can well imagine that there are currents... Our second anchor
(the technology) was being held in place by our hands. Given the forces at
play... Our hands were not sufficient to hold it in place. (Like... If

| Well, we think we have that down. Maybe. But... In a place with
currents
| this strong it's really hard to figure out where the heck your tool ends
up
| on the bottom! We had all kinds of neat plans on how to locate it but
| we're not sure they actually worked!
Might try a battery powered sona-lert sounder on the tool and a waterproof
microphone on the end of a stick. If you need azimuth and declination might
try one of those trolling motor mounts.
