There are two versions of the f700 one SLR and the other bar style
with lens that telescopes. Cheapest is $104 for a refurb
There are much better cameras out there for not much more.
Personally, I like the canon line (SD1000), now for about $150.
It uses standard SD (high speed prefered) up to 8G (last review
I read).
Last camera I had was the S200 Elph by canon, 2mp and paid $200 for it.
Still have that camera and use it all the time for working on the Jeep.
Beat the daylights out of it, grease, dirt, dropping, and it held up well.
Also paid $200 for the SD1000 (7.2mp).
The SD1000 has a larger LCD and I've already managed to scratch it. :/
But so far it has held up well to abuse at $dayjob and on vacations.
Some times they come with a "free printer" Not a bad offer if you
plan on selling that printer or just using it till the ink runs out.
For most of those the ink is more expensive than the printer and the
printer is not high quality.

If you can find someone to repair it, good for you, but I'd think that would
require a return trip to Japan. You can buy a nice digital SLR kit for
about $600 now, I bought an Olympus Evolt 500 about a year ago, came with a
couple of lenses and was a good deal for the money, but I wish I'd waited
another 9 months to get the one with the live LCD screen, I really miss that
from my old point and shoot.
Hey look, you might be in luck.......a recall!!

Teah, sure, I could post in geeks. But, like. Yeah? So? The same folks
read the two and I'll get better off-topic posts here. Anyway, got a
digital camera. Had it for about 4 years now. It takes great pix. Fuji
something or other. FinePix F700. It doesn't really matter. It fell the
other day and now when I push on it the wrong way (like, I turn it off or
try to) or too hard the battery gets disconnected - the memory resets.
Ooh. Just the clock and preferences memory. I hope. Anyway... I could
buy another camera or I could try to get this one fixed. Sadly... It
looks like it might need a new body. Bummer. That must surely cost, with
repair fees, as much as getting a new camera, no? Dang it! This was an
awesome camera! I hate to think that I'll have to fork over another $400
to get something that works this well, again. You know... Funny thing,
that. I was thinking that I'd only paid $200 for it. Well, sure, repair
might easily cost that. But, like, big deal. For $200 you can't get a
cameera this nice... At least, I don't think you can. And, at least,
that's what I think it would cost to fix it. Oh, whatever. Shit. Maybe
I'll just try to limp through with it until I get my bonus check from el

Have you looked at Olympus? I've had good luck with their cameras in the
past. :)
