Who at Spamcop should know about this?

Who at Spamcop should know about this?
Tue, 08 Jan 2008 19:48:21 -080
I received the email below in response to a Spamcop submission of mine.

Is there anyone at Spamcop who would be interested in receiving a copy?

Hello --

Please do not use the AbuseTeam@cavecreek.net email address for spam
reports; they will not receive timely attention.

Please use only Abuse@CWIE.net or Abuse@Cavecreek.net for spam complaints.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I would say post it in spamcop.routing with ISP's reply pasted.

Except that the information provided isn't optimal. You should be
talking about the reportid or the tracking URL associated with the
issue.

SC determines notifies based on IP address. SC doesn't modify its
routing db based on some email address where the provider received a
notify, which may have been redirected by the providers own system. It
appears to me that the admin doesn't know what they are talking about.

If we look at cavecreek.net, the first thing that pops up is its IP and
its MX but that isn't its outgoing MTA server that might have been
involved.

Administrator found from whois records

The most important ways that an admin can facilitate the direction of
their abuse notifies is by their abuse.net registered addresses and by
registering an address with spamcop using this system
http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/343.html How do I register an
abuse@ email address?

According to the information provided by the OP and by the admin, it
doesn't seem to me that the admins correspondence is appropriate, as SC
doesn't notify the address she named.

Yes we have had several users write to us about this and I remapped the
reporting addresses. I also write to Sheryl and suggested that in the
future she write to deputies directly rather than autobotting the users :-)
