Webfacing Slowness
Wed, 11 Jul 2007 08:03:34 -040
I have some users of a webfaced application in different locations that
complain of it taking a long time ( around 5 minutes) for the webfaced
application to come up. I am unable to duplicate the problem myself but I
do know that if the webfaced application has not been run for a while the
first person that uses it takes an additional 30 secs to come up in the
browser. Any requests after that seem to come up right away. I am looking
for a way to see if the PC the person is using or the network inside their
building is slowing the connection down. The last time someone called on
this problem they told me that it did not open. They are using IE 6.0 and
after I had them close the browser and open the webfaced application up
again it came right up. Seems strange. I saw the last post titled
"Application Running Slower" but the problem we have seems to be more
intermittent. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,

I would have them check their browser settings. I have seen that sort
of intermittent slow response with IE when it is set to "check every
time" (or some words like that). For some reason it will get hung up on
re-loading static content like the javascript library or graphics or
whatever. Probably the best browser cache setting for most would be
"Automatic".
