Thinking that the GPF problems might revolve around the multiple installs of
SIMPOL during its development, I uninstalled it, deleted the C:\program
files\SIMPOL subdirectory it left behind, and got into regedit to remove all
references to SBNG and SIMPOL that were also there (except for MRUs).
Upon reinstalling, all works much better and has not GPF'd so far.
Thot you would like to know...be sure to copy off your registration before
uninstalling!

I have done similar here after doing benchmark/stability tests on the box
and changing the graphics card that was the source of some of my grief.
I still have gpf when doubleclicking desktop.smp but it eventually starts
and doesn't do it again. Using the menu shortcut hasn't caused one yet. I
still have them sometimes but now not everytime when F4 + F5 debugging a
large project. Perhaps my system is more stable now.
I took a note of the files and mod dates in the SIMPOL\bin dir before doing
the uninstallation. Any file mod date before 29.09.2007 is listed below.
The listed files below were not changed by the first overwrite installation
or by the subsequent clean installation. ie I found no difference in the
clean installation except for "fcgd1_32.exe" which was not reproduced
in the
clean installation. There were several files copied to windows\system32 but
the dates matched in the install log.
control panel/remove programs listed all the version of simpol since my last
uninstall and I noted and deleted those and other sbng/simpol entries in the
registry.
The file "simpol_wxwn.api " is not up to date and probably explains
why the
wxprintdialog() is not recognized by intellihelp or the postprocessor after
compiling.
I am envious of your result! I am still wondering why a slower computer does
not gpf under similar circumstances. More tests (yawn) on this one to
follow.
Cheers, John
