Signing with DevCert gives 'Unable to install' error

Signing with DevCert gives 'Unable to install' error
Tue, 29 Aug 2006 19:16:20 +020
Hi all,

I'm new to v9 and the signing process.
I wanted to use protected UID with developer certificate but on my Nokia
3250 I'm getting 'Unable to install' message at the very end of the
installation process. If I try using that same developer certificate
with unprotected UID it works just fine.

Is that the expected behavior? If so at which point do you have to
switch to protected UID? Just before submitting your application to the
signing process? I thought developer certificate would let you use
protected UID since they are valid only for a very limited set of
devices specified by IMEIs.

Cheers,
Stéphane Lenclud.

It should work. Can you provide mmp files and pkg files for case that works,
and case that does not work.

Hi Hamish,
Thanks for your answer.

-For the case that works just use the Helloworldbasic example from the
S60-3rd-MR SDK and sign the SIS file with self-signed cert.

-For the case that does not work use the same example en replace the
UIDs with a protected UID -there is two UIDs in MMP, one in PKG, on in
reg resource, one in code- then sign it with a DevCert. I was using a
DevCert for one IMEI with all possible capabilities and Helloworldbasic
needs none.

Cheers,
S.

Hi,
I eventually managed to get a DevCert working with protected UID on a
Nokia N91. Don't know what's wrong with my 3250, I'll try again soon ;)
Cheers,
S.
