Migrating to Symbian 9.1: application UID 3 needs to change?

Migrating to Symbian 9.1: application UID 3 needs to change?
Mon, 4 Dec 2006 11:13:51 +0200
Hi all,
I have an application for Symbian versions prior to 9.1, which I'll need to
port soon.
The application has UID 3 = 0x06870724 (but it is not Symbian Signed).
I've read in the UIQ 3 docs that UIDs up to 0x7FFFFFFF are now considered
protected, and require signing, while UIDs 0xE0000000 and above are for test
purposes - but somewhere else I've seen mentioned the old test range,
0x01000000 to 0x0fffffff. I'm confused...

Anyway, the question is this: if my application is registered by Symbian as
0x06870724, can I continue using this UID or do I need to request a new one
from Symbian?

(Eventually we'll probably get it signed properly, but until then it seems
user capabilities would be enough)

TIA
Uriah

You should turn this UID into an unprotected one by adding 0xf0000000 to it.
There's no need to register it again.

That seems easy enough :) Thanks!
May I ask where this is documented? I sure couldn't find it in the UIQ 3 SDK
docs.

Seems like the link in the UIQ SDK is broken. Log in to the Symbian Signed
web site (www.symbiansigned.com) and, on the "My Symbian Signed" tab,
select
UIDs on the left side menu, then the FAQ sub-menu.
