Timeline of Microsoft Messaging
Wed, 3 Jan 2007 15:26:51 +0000
Seattle-pi has published an interactive timeline that enables you to scan
through a couple of decades of Microsoft messaging to see the biggest buzzwords
from key Microsoft speeches through the years. Here's the link:
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/tags/

Just drag the slider at the top of the messaging box to move through the years.

I was surprised to see that the first speech was about the Altair!! (Is anybody
else here old enough to remember that one?)

I'm old enough to remember and not old enough to forget.

Back in those days I had been ordering things from Edmund Scientific and I had
an HP-25. I wish I had not got rid of my retired slide rule.

Can you imagine what my social life was like?

LOL! That slide rule might be worth some money today... :)

I vaguely remember spending an afternoon and evening building and playing with a
little Heathkit computer (I think I'm remembering that right...). It was a
little $175 kit that was supposed to teach me something about building and
binary...I think I finally did get it put together well enough that it could
flash "Hello" at me in big red block letters. (It felt like a big
accomplishment at the time...)
