If you can follow my cryptic notes, I just tried this from a magazine that I
get - very nice, realistic effect:
Create black layer - add Gaussian noise 75.
Add Gaussian blur - 1.2
To extract snow:
Brightness/contrast - minus 53 brightness/100 contrast
Select color range - shadow - then delete selection
Gaussian blur - 1
Repeat the above on new layer except with following changes:
90 for noise
1 for 1st Gaussian blur
Brightness contrast - minus 45 brightness
2nd blur is motion blur, 65 angle, 3 distance
hth
And happy holidays!

Hey everyone -
Forgive me if this sounds like a dumb question, but is there any suggestions
on getting a "snow" effect on an existing photo in Photoshop? I wanted
to
add some snow to my main image on my website for the winter season.
If this isn't possible, would it just be better to search for a stock photo
with snow already in it?
Thanks for your input,

Yes, it will take away the blur for the moment, but you'll put it back in
later. It's not a very intuitive process, but it works.

Hi Flo -
Thanks for the response - but, I'm not seeming to be having any luck. When I
get to the step to adjust the brightness/contrast, if I put the contrast to
+100, it gets rid of all the blurred "stuff" I just put there...
I'm supposed to be adjusting B/C on the layer, correct?
