Shelly: Site5 Hosting

Shelly,

Don't you use Site5 for hosting? I'm trying to figure things out. I would
like to upload some files. Can you use a separate ftp program like WSFTP? If
not, any tips?

And is it just my imagination or is their server really slow today. It is
taking forever to load their pages and some time-out completely.

TIA

Ally

Thanks Brenda,

Not quite yet. They are saying there are two logins and passwords, one for
site admin and the other for backstage. They finally forwarded the info onto
me and I was able to get ftp access for one domain. Now just waiting for the
other.

I think the password situation is a bit messed up. Of course I am running
way low on sleep these days trying to design my first "possible"
client's
website (my brother is V.P. at a river lodge and I'm trying to convince him
that I can get him up there in the search engines)! Take a look at his
current webpage! He didn't know I had an interest in webdesign and he had
already been looking at 3 other designers/developers and I'm trying to think
of a way to convince him to give me a shot at it. I'm going to build it
anyway (all by scratch so far btw - just notepad!! am I crazy or what?) and
give him a .net webaddress where I am uploading the files. Take a look at
his current one www.morrisonslodge.com and then at the beginnings of what
I've done: www.morrisonslodge.net. Tell me what you think!

Ally

So it might be due to that.

Ally--

I use Site5. As with any web site hosting you can use any darned FTP program
you like to upload files. Or you can use their Admin/Control Panel to do it,
but I find that a dreadful way to do it. Let me know if you're still having
problems.

Hi Ally,

Did you get your FTP questions figured out? Site5 has a good knowledgebase
and support forums for site5 specific things. Here's their article on FTP:

Short answer, yes you can use your own FTP program. I frequently use
FileZilla.
