Absolutely! I charge for NG posts too - the bill will be in your box. ;o)

No, it's part of the 'overhead' of the job. However, I have received a
$75 invoice from an ad agency once while at Motorola, for a fax.

The only situation where I charge for 'time spent sending email' is for
my (very few) regular, hourly clients where I am paid for every minute
spent on the phone, in meetings, or actually working on something for
them directly. In general, I definitely do not charge for email time any
more than I would charge for my time spent walking to the mailbox to put
their bill in the mail... all part of the process.

Seems like there are enough of you online to get an honest response.
I was working with someone on a little project and when I got my
invoice, I noticed I was charged for correspondence. I was a little
surprised to see that - 1. because they didn't tell me they charged for
that and 2. because I don't charge my clients for sending them emails.
This got me to thinking, should I? Do any of you charge for this?
Thanks!

No. Email/correspondence, etc... should all be part of your overhead. I
know there are several people around here that insist on charging for
email with the argument of: I should be paid for all my time spent on
your project. Short-sighted IMO.
You should have built-in costs that cover your time, whether it be a
separate line item in the budget, such as a "Base Development Fee" and
include some bullet points that states what the fee is for, i.e.,
meeting time, development time, etc...) I've done that very such thing
for years and never once has it been questioned. If you're wondering, I
figure approximately 10% of my overall budget as the Development Fee.
Now, if you're being paid hourly, your hourly fee should have built-in
overhead for email and the like.
Receiving an invoice that has line items for "email correspondence"
does
nothing more than create irritate and strife, IMO.
