So professional -

Googling for CSS in email stationery I wandered across what was supposed to
be an HTML cheat sheet. The sheet was not very useful for me so I thought I
would check the main site for any possible useful information. As I waited
patiently for the home page to download the only thing that came to my
immediate attention was that the message displayed in the IE title bar had
not been run through spell checker - lol And this guy is supposed to be
professional. That was enough for me to stop looking.

Anyone else here have some bad examples of web design to share?

Some other pet peeves I have:

Every single link opens a new window, including the new window's link to
return to the referring page - my pop-blocker goes bonkers, and if it's a
new site I am not about to let it have free reign over my machine - so I
leave - asap.

Spelling errors. I can handle them in email and news posts - but not on web
sites.

Chat Speak - on web sites, in email, and news posts. LOL, ROTFL, LMAO, or
LOLOLOL being about the only exceptions. f u cn tpe lk ths - don't bother
writing to me!

There are others - but I'm curious to know what other folks have to share
:o)

I admit to having had a few typos on my Cub Resource site, but I have a nice
size following and they usually write and let me know when they see it.

That is what I do when I see a typo on most sites, write to the webmaster.
But, I only do this with minor typos, missing words, words that the
spell-check would miss (to instead of too)

<G> Howdy Leslie! Great to see you in here! I meant to reply to one of
your
earlier posts - however I clicked through to your sites, which are well
organized and lovely, then landed over at the template site you linked back
to.... only to find myself over at the FP archive at Microsoft's site *s* It
was quite a long trip before I got back here - so thanks for that great
distraction!

Appreciate your input on web design software and thumbnail creation too! I
may have to give FP another try, although I am a little determined to wander
away and dive into Coffee Cup. Then again it just might be a java thing (as
in coffee - not scripting <G>). I'll be playing over this weekend in all
sorts of programs :o) Hope your having a wonderful one so far!

It bothers me that on many commercial sites it is very hard to find their
address and phone number or even any contact information. The info should be
on the home page or at least a prominent link to it on the home page. Isn't
advertising and generating customer engagement what most commercial sites
are all about?

I also agree about the spelling. It looks very unprofessional. I admit that
mistakes have sometimes crept into my site but so far haven't lasted long.
Each and every time a site is updated every page should be carefully proofed
after clearing your cache. An extra pair of eyes is very helpful as well.
After an update I always proof every page again a few days later. It's
surprising how many mistakes you catch when the euphoria of the creative
process has worn off.
