Hosting for Learning and Working

Hosting for Learning and Working

Hello!

Longtime lurker here. I'm finally taking the big dip into independent
consulting, and have forgotten just how murky hosting waters can be. Most of
the companies I work with have co-lo's or are hosted with Rackspace.

For myself, I'd like to get my hands dirty, and upgrade two communities I work
with - one Drupal and one on the new community server platform Telligent has put
out.

I can't afford to spend too much on these three domains - they are all personal
and out of pocket. Traffic is small.

Where can I host three domains, on one account, one with mysql db, and three
tiny sql dbs. I just can't imagine having to get a dedicated box to have more
than one db, and that's all I'm seeming to hear. I tried using ultima, but they
were so slow that the forums were unusable (snitz.)

I'd love to hear some first hand experience with multiple domains on one account
- I'm not looking for the cheapest, but I certainly don't think that the small
site should cost so damn much just because it's a different damn folder!

After moving my hosting between several providers, I landed at
DiscountASPNet.com. I picked them after reading they were the #1 hosting
company picked by readers of two tech magazines I read, and they've rated that
way for several years in a row.

Not sure about the various database needs under one account. You can ask
presales questions of their tech support. They were very helpful before I dove
in.

Good luck.

I'll give them a email then!

Thank you. I know that real world experience really is the deal breaker with
hosts.

One more vote for Discountasp.net but prolly no support of mysql with them

However, you can check out below hosts:

Softsyshosting.com
Crystaltech.com
ReliableSite.net

Thanks,

mediapyre,

We at http://www.dotnetpark.com offer ASP.NET, PHP, MS SQL, mySQL hosting. So
you can install Drupal. We also provide a free installation of Telligent
Community Server. Now we are in process of changing our web hosting plans, so do
not look at the listed plans, just contact sales@ and we'll create a custom plan
for you with several databases and reasonable price.

P.S. We allow up to 5 sites per account.
